Two masked men held up a Prospect grocery store Wednesday night, firing two shots during the robbery, police said. No one was injured.
More than $1,200 was taken from McRuss Grocery at the corner of Shamrock Road and Marina Drive, police said.
Police said the robbery was reported at 8:18 p.m. Two masked men armed with silver handguns went into the store and demanded cash from a woman working at the register. A man who was a patron of the store was also present during the robbery.
One of the robbers filled a black rucksack with cash from the register, police said. Royal Cayman Islands Police officers said the two suspects got away.
Both men were described as tall and slim, wearing black clothing, dark gloves and baseball hats, and they had dark T-shirt-type masking around their faces.
Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have information that could assist police is asked to contact Detective Constable Diane Dyer or Sgt. Lloyd Hickey at 949-7710; the RCIPS tip-line 949-7777, or Cayman Crime Stoppers, 800-8477 (TIPS).
