The Cayman Islands Little League Association held its annual general meeting last Wednesday.
Outgoing president Stuart Knox spoke about the key achievements of the Little League programmes during the year. Among the key achievements he highlighted were the establishment of a new baseball programme for seven-and-eight-year olds; the incorporation of dirt cut-outs around the bases on two fields and the awarding of the Field of Dreams concession contract to Subway restaurant.
Mr. Knox, who has been involved in the Little League programme for nearly eight years, said he had to step aside because he was subject to the seven-year-term limit. However, he vowed to continue supporting the Little League as long as he remained on the island.
The auction committee heads, Sara Mackay and Rob Imparato, updated members on the 2009 auction, which they said will return to its traditional November time slot. Because other auctions had moved into the same time period, the Little League had decided to move its auction to March last year. This year’s auction will be held 7 November at the multi-functional facility at Cayman International School.
Attended by approximately 40 people, this year’s CILLA annual general meeting featured several new faces, several of which agreed to become board members through the election process.
The members elected 13 people to serve as their 2009-2010 officers and Board of Directors. The new board consists of:
