Deadline for nominations for the
2011 Young Caymanian Leadership Awards is 16 November. Those who are interested
in nominating a young Caymanian between the ages of 20 and 35 are encouraged to
turn their name in early.
Minister of Education Rolston
Anglin said, “There are so many times in life when we wish that we had the
opportunity to give our input to very important matters and situations that
affect our country and young people. The
opportunity to nominate someone for the YCLA is something that should be taken
advantage of.”
Mr. Anglin said he understands the
YCLA Foundation’s dedication to youth, “The young leaders of the YCLA are
presented a strong platform from which they can make a tremendous impact with
our youth.”
For the past nine months, Mr.
Anglin has had more than 40 speaking engagements, primarily to students, and
also to an audience of thousands during the Do Something campaign in May.
The YCLA Foundation relies entirely
on input from the community for nominations. Over the past 12 years,
recommendations have come from employers, employees, parents, siblings,
coworkers, church members, friends and spouses.
“Everyone should acknowledge,
honour and celebrate the impressive young Caymanian role models who are around
us every day”, said Melissa Wolfe, on behalf of the foundation. “An effective
way to show your appreciation is with a nomination.”
