Brown rescues Scholars again

Scholars International have not started the season well but at least their main striker, Erick Brown, is finding the net on a fre-quent basis. Brown took his tally so far to seven with the only two goals of the game against Roma United in East End on Sunday. Scholars are the defending league champs but they’ve lost around 10 players and it has shown with fluctuat-ing fortunes. At least ‘Coolie’ is banging them in. He scored a hat-trick against Elite but still ended up on the losing side. It finished 5-3.

Bodden Town beat fu-ture 3-0 at the TE McField Annex Sports Centre with goals from Rashard Rankin (63rd minute), Carl Solomon (72) and Arvid Harris (75).

In the later match, Elite showed why they are early league leaders with another fine victory, this time a 2-0 win over Tigers. Goals came from Derrin Ebanks in the 35th minute and a penalty from Jairo Sanchez in the 73rd.

Elite technical director Greg Ebanks is pleased with the way things are going. Elite are scoring plenty and not leaking goals.

“Against Tigers patience was the key because they are a great team,” Ebanks said. “I’m pleasantly surprised to win by the margin we did because I thought it would be closer.

“Collectively we’re doing well this season because everyone is taking their responsibilities seriously. We have a lot more depth in the squad this season so the players know that if they don’t carry out their functions correctly they will be watching the game from the bench.”
