One man is in hospital and another is in police custody following a stabbing in George Town Saturday.
The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service did not report the incident to the public until lunchtime Tuesday.
Due to the long weekend, the RCIPS policy of not reporting crimes outside of normal business hours meant details of the incident were not released until that time.
Police did release information on a fatal hit-and-run accident over the weekend.
About 7.30 p.m. on Saturday, 13 November 2010, police received a report that a man had been stabbed during an altercation at a home in the Crewe Road area.
Emergency services attended and the victim was taken to the Cayman Islands Hospital suffering from back injuries.
Following a police operation later that evening in the George Town area, a 26-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident. He is currently in police custody on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm.
The victim remains in hospital in a serious condition. His injuries are not considered to be life-threatening.
