Tattoo artists, body piercers,
hairdressers and barbers can get trained and recertified in ongoing courses
from the Department of Environmental Health.
The cosmetology courses are open to
all new personnel and anyone whose certification has expired.
Certification becomes invalid three
years after the last training date, according to the Department of
Environmental Health.
Workshops are held between 9am and
noon on the last Tuesday of each month, except in December, at the Cayman
Islands Environmental Centre at 580 North Sound Road.
The $15 registration fee includes
literature for the course.
Departmental trainers structure the
workshops to educate operators on safe hygiene practices within the industry.
Participants focus on equipment sterilisation and disinfection; prevention of
communicable disease transmission, and updating participants on Department of
Environmental Health guidelines for operating cosmetology-related establishments.
