MLAs generous to Bodden Town

Dwayne Seymour recently helped his native Bodden Town field a netball team for the current primary school league.

Along with fellow Bodden Town representative and Minister of Sports Mark Scotland, Seymour made a personal CI$1,100 donation to Bodden Town primary school. In turn the institution was able to purchase new netball uniforms and field an A and B team.

In addition four team members presented a thank-you card and framed team photo to Seymour last week. The four girls who were part of the presentation were Maria Lewis, Iyanla Solomon, Yvonne Solomon, and Athena Smith.

Last year Bodden Town was not able to compete in the Cayman Islands Netball Association competition due to a lack of uniforms. Acting Deputy Principal and netball coach Kimberly Litrico said: “Considering the economic crunch, we really appreciate Mr. Scotland and Mr. Seymour’s contribution,” Litrico said. “We haven’t had new uniforms for seven years and they just didn’t survive after the 2008 season.”

Seymour wished all of the team members well in their approaching games. “I hope they’ll be motivated by the new uniforms and colours to bring home the gold.”
