Contestants shine at Black Tie Ball

Six Miss Cayman hopefuls were the centre of attraction at a Black Tie Ball held at the Marriott Resort, Orchid Ballroom Saturday night.

Featured at the elaborate bash, hosted by the Miss Cayman Islands committee were contestants Marsena Hydes, sponsored by Cayman custom Cabinets, Ltd; Ceretta Harvey sponsored by Presige Motors Ltd; Jhaneille Ennis sponsored by Jamin Construction; Jovani Hessing sponsored by Scotia Bank & Trust (Cayman) Ltd; Arleth Chiari-Powery sponsored by Island Companies Ltd; and Ambuyah Ebanks sponsored by Boatswain’s Beach.

The elegant evening began with guests enjoying a champagne reception in the foyer and casting of bids on a number of items during the silent auction.

At dinner, contestants were sashed by representatives from individual sponsors.

Tourism Minister Charles Clifford, on behalf of government commended committee members and contestants on their hard work and dedication.

Kay Kay and Seretse and the True Democrats provided some delightful music while guest dined on succulent chicken and mahi mahi filets, grilled polenta, sautéed spinach, in blackened tomato sauce with green curry coconut sauce and annatto oil.

For desert, guest enjoyed chocolate painted tulip tuile with fresh berries.

The Miss Cayman Island Pageant takes place this Saturday 18 February at the Lions Centre.
