The crews aboard the Royal Navy’s HMS Iron Duke and HMJS (Her Majesty’s Jamaica Ship) Middlesex are visiting the Cayman Islands on Tuesday, and will participate in various government activities for the duration of their visits.
Lt. Steve Bachelor and a crew of 18 are arriving on the HMJS Middlesex, which will depart Cayman on Wednesday.
The HMS Iron Duke, led by Cmdr. Andy Jordan, has a total crew of 179 and will remain in Cayman for a few days.
During its visit, the crew will have discussions with the National Hurricane Committee about emergency humanitarian assistance to be provided after a natural disaster, and provide training and assistance to the Cayman Islands Marine Unit.
In addition, they will attend private functions, as well as participate in planned sporting activities.
Several students from private and public high schools, as well as the University College of the Cayman Islands, will have the opportunity to meet the crew onboard the ship.
The HMS Iron Duke will depart on Friday.
