Minister makes courtesy calls

Newly appointed Minister for Tourism, Environment, Development and Commerce Charles Clifford began his official visits to the departments that fall under his ministry on Monday 23 May,

According to a government information service press release, his first stop was the Department of Tourism where he toured the office’s new location in Regatta Business Park and met the staff.

He met DoT Director Pilar Bush, who updated the minister on departmental activities, then attended a luncheon with Cayman Islands Tourism Association President Mark Bastis.

The following day, Mr. Clifford visited the Boatswains Beach project in West Bay, meeting the staff of the Turtle Farm. Managing Director Kenneth Hydes provided an update on construction and other matters concerning the venture.

Over the next several weeks, Mr. Clifford will visit other agencies reporting to his ministry, said the release.

The Minister said: ‘I am pleased to begin the process of reacquainting myself with the staff and work plans of the various agencies. In particular, I am eager to focus on our tourism recovery’.
