Young company growing daily

Completing a job to the satisfaction of the customer is the guiding credo of TROBORTAV Industries.

Company Director Troy Brady is quick to point out that this doctrine is what makes it different from many other of the start-up groups emerging after Hurricane Ivan as construction and repair businesses.

‘We are in the business for the long haul, not like those who are just here for the construction boom,’ he said.

Mr Brady pointed to a frequent post-Ivan complaint from building owners that repair work was shabby and areas such as roofs that were supposed to have been fixed show new leaks with the onset of the raining season.

‘The people in those construction companies don’t care because they are in the business only because of the building and repair boom, and when that is over they will return to their original work, with no bother of having repeat trade with customers.’

TROBORAV is a family business with, 23 year-old Troy as a director, his 18-year-old brother Boris Brady as company secretary.

Formation of the company was Troy’s idea. Having attained an associate degree in computer science in New Jersey, he found himself increasingly drawn to the entrepreneurial field and returned to Cayman to begin studies for a bachelor’s degree in business management.

‘Ivan presented us with an opportunity to open the construction business because passage of the storm presented a level playing field,’ he said.

Since formation in October, and with a complement of 15 full-time staff, TROBORAV has secured several aspects of roofing contracts on major business places that include Seagulls Condos, Treasure Island, Queens Court and Christopher Columbus as well as private homes. The company has a contract to work on 15 new homes, pending their building approval of the planning department.

Besides roofing, the company is also reporting customer satisfaction in air conditioner duct cleaning for firms such as KPMG, the government employees credit union, Laguna del Mar, Brittania, Walkers House, and Coral Stone.

TROBORAV boasts a multi-faceted business development approach, and apart from construction also has operations in custom furniture supplies and clothing.

Solid wood fine furniture for any area of the house or office is manufactured in Jamaica and delivered according to customer specifications.

The customised option is also extended to the clothing range.

‘We can supply anything that can be worn, from the rugged construction worker to the refined businessman,’ said Sales and Marketing Associate Teddy Clayton. Teddy’s comment pointed to the fact that the apparel department supplies items ranging from steel-toed work boots to all types of clothing. The company also supplies table linen for restaurants and hotels.
