A prison officer appeared in Summary Court on Wednesday charged with possession of ganja with intent to supply at the prison.
David Hugh Lyn, 39, is accused of having a quantity of ganja, less than a pound, at the prison on Saturday, 27 August.
Crown Counsel Gail Johnson told Magistrate Nova Hall that, based on instructions received, although noting the seriousness of the matter, she would be asking for certain conditions to any offer of bail.
Ms Johnson also advised that there is a companion matter, referring to a person who allegedly asked the officer to take items into the prison.
That person will be brought to court as soon as the charges are laid, she said.
The officer was represented by Attorney Lloyd Samson.
Bail conditions include recognisance in the sum of $1,500 and one or two sureties in the same amount. The defendant must live and sleep at his residence in Bodden Town and he is not to leave the jurisdiction without the court’s permission.
The matter was set for mention again on 28 September.
