Pirates Point refurb
Pirates Point Resort, Little Cayman, has just completed building a new dining room ,replacing the older one with a higher ceiling and greatly improved AC plus all new ceiling draping and new chair covers. The resort has refurbished the entire swimming pool deck and repainted all rooms and furniture. Pirates Point reopens on 28 October.
Sunshine Grill reboots
The Sunshine Grill is undergoing some preseason tweaks and will reopen on Saturday, 1 October.
“We are adding new bathrooms, updating the kitchen and redoing the dining room floor,” said Mike Dill, who leaves the island on 20th October after a six and a half year stint.
Brasserie boats keep it fresh
The Brasserie has two boats in operation manned by local fishermen who catch fish for the restaurant. Bracker Dorson Wright pilots Brasserie Catch I and is a second-generation fisherman who learnt the technique of deep water fishing from his father. The captain of Brasserie Catch II is Grand Caymanian Atlee Evans, notable for becoming Cayman’s first ever divemaster. Now living on the Brac, he fishes daily for the restaurant and market.
Wine awards aplenty
Grand Old House, Luca and Ragazzi are all celebrating recognition for winning awards from Wine Spectator for their selection of wines.
