The New Self Help Community Foundation has teamed up with local born international talent Melissa McField as well as Kirk Rowe to deliver a jazz ballet creative dance workshop to youth in the Cayman Islands.
The dance workshop will be facilitated over consecutive Saturdays on 15 and 22 October at the George Town Primary School Hall. The events begin at 11am and run until 2pm each day. The events are free to those ages 10 to 25.
Ms McField is a graduate of the Edna Marley College of the Visual and Performing Arts. She is a lecturer at Ardenne High School and is the rehearsal director of L’Acadco Dance Company.
When in the Cayman Islands, Ms McField teaches classes at Dance Unlimited. Ms McField teams up with Mr. Rowe, founder and dance director of KRI Performing Arts School, to deliver the dance workshop.
“The Foundation is pleased to partner with the Ministry of Health, Environment, Youth Sports & Culture, the George Town Primary School and local dance expertise to promote the positive energies of the youth of Cayman,” said JC Connor, New Self Help Community Foundation chief executive officer. “The young participants age 10 -25 will be invigorated and energized with the combination of teaching and learning styles of these talented instructors.”
The Jazz Ballet Creative Dance workshop has been organized by The New Self-Help Community Foundation, a nonprofit organisation which aims to help teenaged youth develop a sense of self-worth, independence and community spirit. As part of their Project 2012 program, the Foundation is offering a series of training and experience in the arts, including video-documentary production, dance, photography, song writing and poetry.
