Pizza man shot with flare gun

Royal Cayman Islands Police said a pizza delivery man was shot in the stomach with a flare gun Monday night.

Officers said the man, 40, was being treated in hospital for slight injuries.

Just before 8pm Monday the delivery man was backing his car out of the driveway of a home on Orange Drive in Prospect when he said the man with the flare gun approached him.

The suspect fired the flare into the car, hitting the pizza man in the stomach, police said. The delivery man was bruised by the shot, police said.

The man who fired the gun is described at being about 5’10” of light complexion with a round face and straight hair. He was wearing a dark short-sleeved shirt and jean pants, police said.

  1. I quote from the article:The man who fired the gun is described at being about 5’10 of LIGHT COMPLEXION with a round face and straight hair.

This is what you call Political Correctness gone wrong. Was the Man Black or of African decent to be more political correct and had a light complextion, or was he Hispanic with a Light Complexion or even White (European) or Chinese (Asian). He could have been from India and had a light complexion.
The Cayman Islands is not a 2 Race Nation. It is not all black and white, we have many nations living here and within each of these nationalities there are people who are Dark or Light complexion.

It just seems that the Police have no intention of making an attempt at getting the public’s help.

Your comment is hardly helpful, in fact utterly stupid. Political correctness (much as I loathe it)has nothing to do with it. Let us try to deal with the matter factually and objectively.
How would you set up a system to define all the types/colours you refer to? and arrange that observers/witnesses could understand it and thus report effectively on incidents they have witnessed?
You could help the Police (and the rest of us) by defining (so that ordinary people can understand) all these complexions, nations and nationalities. I look forward eagerly to your efforts.

  3. Dear Old Hand,

Not sure why you are so excited. My main point was. By only saying the Suspect was of light complexion means nothing. Was he Black, White, Asian? What is light complexion? When did this become a nationality or race. How should the public look out for a light complexion suspect, every family has a person of light complexion, that is the sibling that is lighter then the rest of them.
