Guns, drugs seized in police bust

Police arrested five men after two guns and a quantity of drugs were seized in Savannah over the weekend.

Three of the men have since appeared in court on drugs-related charges, while two others were bailed pending further inquiries, police said in a statement issued Monday evening.

The incident involving the men happened just after 7am on Saturday, 12 March, police said.

Officers, a Royal Cayman Islands Police Service statement said, were dispatched by 911 to Destiny Drive in Savannah, where it was reported that “explosive sounds” were heard in the area.

Police said after a brief search, the officers from the Firearms Response Unit came across a number of vehicles as well as men, who ran into nearby bushes.
