West Bay-based dive operator DiveTech will hold its fifth annual PADI Women’s Dive Day fundraiser for the Cayman Islands Breast Cancer Foundation on Saturday, 16 July.
This year’s event, which will take place between 8am and 5pm, will include an underwater treasure hunt and a raffle.
Participants are requested to make a $30 donation, and this includes an air tank and weights. As in previous years, 100% of the proceeds will go to the Breast Cancer Foundation.
Jo Mikutowicz, owner of Divetech, said, “Our challenge this year is to beat our donation from last year to the Breast Cancer Foundation so we are aiming to raise more than $10,000.
“Women and men are welcome to come join us on the day for an underwater treasure hunt from Lighthouse Point and raffle with some amazing prizes to celebrate women in diving and raise money for the Cayman Islands Breast Cancer Foundation.”
Non-divers are also welcome to participate by donating, buying something from Divetech’s special shopping list, or coming along and enjoying the stalls, drinks and food, she said.
In previous years, DiveTech’s fundraiser has broken world scuba diving records on Women’s Dive Day.
