Women’s Dive Day: A pink scavenger hunt for charity

Scavengers descended on the seabed and coral reefs off West Bay’s Cobalt Coast dive site Saturday, on the hunt for some unusual pink prey – and to raise money for the Breast Cancer Foundation.

For the annual Women’s Dive Day on 15 July, Divetech organised its yearly fundraiser for the charity, inviting participating divers to find dozens of rocks that staff had painted bright pink – making them fairly easy to spot. Each rock was also painted with a number that corresponded with one of the more than 120 prizes donated by local companies.

Owner Jo Mikutowicz said Saturday’s event was a triple celebration.

“We are celebrating women in diving, and we’re celebrating the opening of Divetech’s second location, at Cobalt Coast, and, most importantly, raising money for the Breast Cancer Foundation,” she said.
