A cyclist remains in hospital where he is being treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries following a collision on Sunday night.
Police, in a statement Monday evening, said the incident happened just after 11:05pm on 7 May at the roundabout at Elgin Avenue and Hospital Road.
The collision, police said, took place when a vehicle travelling west on Elgin Avenue and the cyclist who was traveling east on the road collided.
The cyclist was transported to Cayman Islands Hospital by ambulance where he continues to be treated for his injuries.
The incident is being investigated by the police.
This is the latest in a series of collisions involving cyclists on local roads, one of which resulted in the death of Daniel McFarlane.
The 23-year-old cyclist was killed in a hit-and-run collision on the night 28 March.
The driver involved in hit-and-run collision was arrested.
A second cyclist received serious but non-life-threatening injuries in that collision.
Just weeks prior to that incident, on 8 March, 38-year-old cyclist Abele Hiwet was killed on West Bay Road.
Local cyclists have called for a ‘cultural change’ to make sure no road user suffers the same fate again.
