An 80-year-old US visitor has died in a water-related incident, police have said.
The identity of the woman has not been released.
The incident happened on Thursday, 13 July, shortly after 10am, according to a press release issued by the RCIPS Monday afternoon.
Officers had responded to a report of a person in distress on the shore in the vicinity of Boggy Sands Road, West Bay.
Police said it was reported that the woman was swimming when she experienced difficulties and lost consciousness.
The 80-year-old was assisted to the shore by family members who administered CPR until Emergency Medical Services arrived.
The woman was transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital via ambulance, and was later pronounced dead.
This is the fifth water-related death in 2023.
The last reported death occurred in June when a 68-year-old woman, visiting from North Carolina, died in a water-related incident in Cayman Kai, North Side.
