The man who was found dead in the water off George Town last week has been confirmed as 27-year-old Raheem Tyrike Barrett from Jamaica.
Police revealed his identity in a press release on Tuesday, 31 Oct., in which they expressed condolences to his family and friends.
Members of the Cayman Islands Fire Service recovered Barrett’s body early on Sunday morning, 22 Oct. Port Authority staff had alerted emergency services to a possible person in distress in the harbour shortly before 11:15pm the evening before.
Barrett was unresponsive when taken from the water and was subsequently pronounced dead at Cayman Islands Hospital.
The cause of his death has not yet been confirmed.
