A family member has identified the man whose body was found floating in the water off George Town over the weekend.

In a brief statement issued on Wednesday afternoon, the RCIPS said the victim had been positively identified as a 27-year-old Jamaican national who had been living in Cayman.

Police did not release the name of the man.

Members of the Fire Service recovered the victim’s body from the water early on Sunday morning, after Port Authority staff alerted emergency services to a possible person in distress in the harbour shortly before 11.15pm on Saturday, 21 Oct.

The man was unresponsive when taken from the water and was subsequently pronounced dead at the Cayman Islands Hospital.
