More than 60 supporters and participants took part in Rotary Sunset’s first free health screening in East End over the weekend.

The event, on Saturday, 2 Dec., was co-hosted by the Lions Club of Grand Cayman.

All three local hospitals took part, as well as both Lions Clubs, Cayman Heart Fund, Royale Medical Center and ENT Cayman.

Free screenings included hearing, blood pressure, glucose, faecal immunochemical tests, PSA, mouth cancer and BMI checks, and there were expert talks on colon cancer, diabetes and nutrition, organisers said.

The screening event was officially opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, which was preceded by remarks from Health Minister Sabrina Turner, who emphasised the importance of access to healthcare for all, while Chief Medical Officer Dr. Nick Gent spoke on the epidemic of obesity as the leading health risk for the entire community in Cayman.
