New roundabout on Bobby Thompson Way opens

Starting Monday, drivers will no longer be able to access the existing roundabout on Bobby Thompson Way, as the National Roads Authority introduces a new road layout in the area.

Drivers will now be required to use the new, larger roundabout on Bobby Thompson Way.

The NRA said the existing roundabout will be removed, shifting traffic onto the new road layout.

The NRA urges caution when using the new layout, as it is still an active construction site.

“Not all lanes will be completed, so motorists are being asked to drive with due care and attention,” the NRA statement said.

The NRA has also advised that its team and subcontractor will be undertaking work on a section of Linford Pierson Highway, between the Agnes Roundabout to the Bobby Thompson Roundabout, on Sunday, Dec. 10 from 5am to 6pm.

The NRA said the work at this location is to upgrade the continuation of the Linford Pierson Highway extension project between Agnes Roundabout and Bobby Thompson Roundabout.

This section will be closed to both eastbound and westbound traffic during this time.

“Motorists are asked to plan ahead and watch out for traffic diversions. During these works motorists are asked to try to avoid the area by using Crewe Road,” the NRA said.
