Two masked men, one armed with a machete and another with a knife, held up a convenience store in West Bay on Saturday afternoon, according to police.
During the robbery, which occurred shortly before 5pm at the store on Birch Tree Hill Road, one of the culprits slashed the hand of a cashier.
Police said it was reported that the victim suffered a hand laceration after the robber demanded cash from the register and threatened the cashier with the machete.
That robber took a sum of money from the cash register, while the other stole liquor.
Police said the men drove off in a grey Honda Fit rental vehicle, with no licence plates, in the direction of Finch Drive.
The RCIPS helicopter was called in to help track down the Honda Fit, which was found abandoned in a bush area on Andreson Road. The vehicle has been recovered for forensic analysis, police said.
The man wielding the machete is described as “tall, with a dark complexion, and spoke with a Caymanian accent”, while the second man is described as about 5 feet, 7 inches tall and of slim build.
