Rolan Welcome and Antascio Rankine have both denied any involvement in the shooting death of Sven Connor, and now await trail later this year.
Welcome, 33, and Rankine, 27, both appeared before the Grand Court via video link on Friday 16 Feb., at which time they entered not guilty pleas to charges of murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm.
“This is a lie! I’m not guilty and I had nothing to do with this,” shouted Welcome before storming off the camera and demanding to be brought back to his prison cell.

Rankine, who remained on camera, entered not guilty pleas to the murder and gun charges. In his absence, a not guilty plea was entered for Welcome by Justice Cheryll Richards who noted Welcome’s stance prior to his departure.
Sven Connor, who was also known as ‘Dapper’ or ‘Daps’, was shot shortly after 10pm on Thursday, 7 Dec. in East End. The weapon used to kill Conor has not been recovered by police.
A three-week trial has been set for 19 August. It is not clear yet whether the matter will proceed as a jury or judge-alone trial.
Both defendants remain in custody.
