A man has been killed in a late-night shooting in East End, police have confirmed.

Police, in a statement Friday afternoon, said officers responded to a report of shots fired at a house off Sea View Road, East End just before 10pm on Thursday.

Upon arrival, firearm and other uniformed officers entered the house, where they found an unresponsive man inside with multiple gunshot wounds.

A doctor visited the scene and pronounced the victim dead.

The murdered man’s identity has not yet been released.

The RCIPS Criminal Investigations Department and detectives are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information about the incident to “urgently come forward”.

Chief Superintendent Brad Ebanks, in a press release following the shooting, said that while the RCIPS had previously increased police presence across the Cayman Islands in light of the holiday period, including the district of East End, “last night’s incident will be met with a commensurate presence to ensure that the community can go about their daily lives without fear”.

“Our officers are working diligently to find who is responsible in this matter. We encourage the community to work with us, in support of bringing the perpetrators to justice and ensuring the safety of the public,” he added.

Police said no suspects were located after searches in the area following the shooting.

According to the release, “Additional daylight searches and examinations” were being carried out Friday.

Police have established a crime scene at the residence and are advising the community to respect the cordon.

They have asked that individuals stay clear of the scene while officers are carrying out their investigations.
