A major conference on Friday, 26 Sept. will examine the health of medical services in Cayman and highlight future developments.

More than 300 medical professionals will attend the conference at Hotel Indigo Grand Cayman to look at trends and technological advances in areas such as dementia, medical imaging and cancer.

The day-long event, organised by Doctors Hospital and Integra Healthcare, will include international expert and panel discussions designed to “build connections that shape the future of health care”.

Dr. Francisco Martinez, medical director at Integra Healthcare, part of the Doctors Hospital group, said, “What makes this conference so valuable is that it brings a wide variety of stakeholders together, from clinicians, policymakers, innovators to allied health professionals, to look at health care challenges from multiple angles.

“That diversity of perspective is essential because collaborative care is at the heart of delivering what’s best for patients.

“No single discipline has all the answers, but when we come together we can design stronger, more resilient systems of care.”

The conference, titled “Frontiers of Healthcare 2025: Building Resilient Healthcare Systems”, is the second of its type, with the first held last year.

Jennifer Kerr, director of operations at Doctors Hospital and head of marketing, said, “As a physician-owned, locally owned hospital, serving our community is at the heart of everything we do.

“Together with Integra, we provide a true continuation of care, from primary services to advanced hospital care within one seamless network.

“The Frontiers of Healthcare Conference allows us to highlight and enhance that collaboration, not just within our organisations, but across the entire health care sector in Cayman as we work with community stakeholders to build resilient systems and deliver excellence for Cayman.”

Speakers at the conference will include cancer specialist Dr. Natalie Sharpe, Doctors Hospital cardiologist Dr. Krzysztof Kukula and neurologist Dr. Ryan Punambolam, also of Doctors Hospital, which celebrated its 25th anniversary this year.

Premier André Ebanks and Katherine Ebanks-Wilks, the health minister, will speak at the start of the conference.

Governor Jane Owen will join delegates over the lunch hour at the Hotel Indigo venue and meet the experts.
