A West Bay man who shot and killed another man in the doorway of a busy restaurant was found guilty of murder on Monday.

The jury of six men and six women, sworn in for the trial of William Ian Rivers on a charge of murder, heard closing speeches on Friday from Director of Public Prosecutions Cheryll Richards and defense attorney Crister Brady.

William Ian Rivers, on trial for the murder of Mark “Hubba” Seymour, sought shelter after the killing inside his partner’s house with her and their children because he wanted to spend time with his family before surrendering to police, a court heard Friday.

A West Bay man accused of fatally shooting father-of-two Mark “Hubba” Seymour in the doorway of a crowded restaurant plans to claim he was suffering from “diminished responsibility” at the time of the killing, a jury heard Tuesday.

Police made two more arrests Friday in connection with a Feb. 4 shooting outside Fete nightclub that resulted in two injuries, a press release states. A 19-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman, both from West Bay, were detained on suspicion of possession of an unlicensed firearm and attempted murder.

Mourners gathered in West Bay Saturday night to light candles of remembrance and share memories of Mark “Hubba” Seymour, a father of two, who was shot and killed in the doorway of Super C’s restaurant a week earlier.
