US swimmer wins Pirates Week Open Water 5K
Emily Brunemann of the United States won the 36th annual Pirates Week Open Water 5K over the weekend in 1 hour and 35 seconds.
East End is tops in float parade
The district of East End earned the top spot in the Pirates Week float competition with its evocative creation highlighting the district’s heritage, natural beauty and landmarks, all tying in to this year’s Pirates Week theme, “Age of Romance.”
Small craft warning issued for weekend
Weather forecasters say 15 to 20 knot winds and rough seas will continue through the weekend. Gusty winds will be coming from the east to northeast. Pirates Week organizers say they do not expect the weather to impact festivities on the George Town waterfront this weekend.
Pirates get one more weekend of shore leave
The Pooch Parade will lead the final weekend for Pirates Week. Cayman’s dogs get their own pirate outfits, replete with tricorn hats and eye patches, for the Saturday morning parade along the waterfront. Pirate-themed events will continue through the day with the food festival, Cardboard Boat Race, Illumination Night Parade, fireworks and street festival.
Inmates’ project wins Pirates Week float prize
One of the winning floats at Saturday’s Pirates Week parade was built by inmates of Northward Prison who put their carpentry skills to work by building a prize-winning wagon. Members of the prison workshop built the wagon around the Pirates Week theme of “Age of Romance.”
East End Heritage Day
East End Heritage Day on Wednesday attracted visitors from all over the island for a day and night of traditional local foods, artifacts, live music and games. As always the East End Heritage Committee had a special treat stored up for guests.
Kids in the limelight at Pedro pirate fun day
Hundreds of young pirates and their crews congregated on Pedro St. James on Sunday for the Pirates Week children’s fun day featuring contests, games and lots of pirate entertainment. “We saw approximately 300 children of all ages with parents in tow, all dressed as pirates.”
Pirates invade Bodden Town
The exciting prospects of enjoying local food, artifacts, cultural activities and local music had visitors and pirates stopping in at the Bodden Town Heritage Day on Monday. The annual event during Pirates Week featured live music, crafts, food, local businesses and more from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Nov. 14.

There were plenty of fantastic costumes and floats and lots of children at the Little Cayman Pirates Week festivities over the weekend of Nov. 4-6. The parade was a big draw for the island and there were some impressive costumes.
Pirates swagger through George Town
Clad in bandanas, face paint and hooped ear rings, bearded pirates and buxom wenches descended on George Town on Saturday in a swashbuckling display marking Pirates Week. Hundreds of spectators gathered at Hog Sty Bay for the invasion that signaled the start of the parade. As the Jolly Roger pulled up to the dock, pirates spilled out, cutlasses drawn.

Ahoy maties! It’s that time of year again
Ahoy maties! It’s that time of year again to clip on an eye patch and get your parrot and cutlass out of storage – Pirates Week has arrived. Organizers have a full 10 days of events, kicking off Thursday, Nov. 10, with the annual Pan in de City steel pan competition at the George Town waterfront and the official kick-off party at The Wharf.
Pirates ‘invade’ Little Cayman
Swashbucklers swarmed Little Cayman as Pirates Week officially got under way in Little Cayman over the weekend. Crowds gathered for a flotilla parade on Saturday, when pirates and other patrons enjoyed a costume competition, a pirate dance, food and drinks.
