Music fans recently gathered at the Southern Cross Club on Little Cayman for a week of scuba diving, fishing, hermit crab racing and touring the island. They were invited to join in a number of projects such as educational classes on the invasive green iguanas and the indigenous rock iguanas, along with turtle nest locating.

Caribbean travel hit record arrivals, expenditures in 2016

Visitors to the Caribbean hit a record level in 2016, with 29.3 million traveling to the region, the Caribbean Tourism Organization reported Thursday. The report marks the seventh year of consecutive growth. At 4.2 percent growth, overall tourist arrivals to the Caribbean region surpassed the global average of 3.9 percent.

Sea turtle revival continues, despite increase in poaching

The revival of nesting sea turtles in Grand Cayman continued in 2016, despite a reported increase in poaching incidents. Across all three islands, volunteers counted a total of 430 nests: 305 in Grand Cayman, 89 in Little Cayman and 36 in Cayman Brac. The figures represent a record total for Grand Cayman.
