A 67-year-old American man who got into difficulty while snorkelling at an address on West Bay Road on Friday has become Cayman’s first water-related death this year.
Police issued a statement on the incident on Wednesday afternoon, in which they said that, shortly after 3:15pm on Good Friday, the man was in the water snorkelling, across from Earth Close, when he lost consciousness.
He was brought back to shore and bystanders on the scene administered CPR until the arrival of emergency services.
He was transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital by ambulance where he was subsequently pronounced dead.
