M/V Valhalla returns to Cayman

A new tourist attraction sailboat, the M/V Valhalla is making its way to Grand Cayman in the next few weeks.

However, the sailboat, a square rigger brig, is actually no stranger to the Cayman Islands, having spent a year of her life here four or five years ago.

Owner, Mr. Harmukhdev Lalli explained that the boat is at dry dock getting painted in Cuba. She should be here in a few weeks, he said.

This boat can probably hold about 140 people, he estimates, and will offer the same sort of afternoon and sunset trips as the Jolly Roger, catering for both cruise ship and stay-over tourists.

Mr. Lalli added that there will perhaps be additional charters to Cayman Brac and Little Cayman. As the brig has cabins underneath this would allow people to spend the night onboard during such a voyage.

The boat was built in Norway and has sailed around the world a couple of times, he said. Recently she’s been operating out of Varadero, Cuba.
