Congratulations to all my Caymanians who received awards by the Queen and the Governor this year. They were all well deserved.
However, I am greatly disappointed that no award was given to the gentleman, who was a prisoner on parole, who courageously saved the lives of three elderly people in East End during the heat of the hurricane by tying wire around them and swimming with them to a place of safety. One person could not even swim, so he had to swim carrying them.
Not because he was a prisoner that he did not deserve to be recognized; we all make mistakes in life. It’s just that we need to learn from them. However in my eyes and the eyes of most East Enders he is our hero. My God bless and preserve that gentleman and I pray that he reads this letter.
