CUC explains power outage

At about 11am on Sunday, 2,800 electricity consumers on the West Bay Road were affected by a power outage when a CUC pole was severely damaged by a contractor clearing land opposite the entrance to Royal Palms.

The outage affected customers on Eastern Avenue and from the junction of North Church Street and Eastern Avenue extending northwards to the West Bay Fire Station. However, CUC’s crews were able to restore service to the majority of customers within one hour, but major repairs were required to re-energize customers between the Marriott Resort and Galleria Mall. Service to these customers was restored at 6.32pm.

The company reminds everyone to exercise caution when working within close proximity to its poles and power lines to ensure their safety.

CUC regrets the inconvenience to customers in the affected areas.
