Crisis Centre gets helping hand

The United Democratic Party has made a significant donation to the Women’s Crisis Centre, in response to the Centre’s appeal for community assistance to fund its programmes.

Party Chairman Mr. Billy Reid and Treasurer Mr. Lewis Ebanks presented a cheque for $5,000 to Crisis Centre Manager, Ms Estella Scott Thursday.

‘On behalf of the Executive Committee of the United Democratic Party, we are honoured and privileged to be able to assist the Crisis Centre,’ said Mr. Ebanks. ‘This CI$5,000 will no doubt be instrumental in helping the Centre to continue its excellent programmes. It is also my sincere wish that more donations will be forthcoming, especially from the corporate sector. After all who needs more protection, than our women and children?’

Joining in the presentation were UDP candidates, Ms Beulah McField (George Town) and Alex Johnson (North Side) who endorsed the Party’s support of the Centre.

‘We are very appreciative of this donation and especially such a significant amount. We have made a plea to the community for support of this vital project rid our country of domestic violence. We are encouraged by the UDP’s support and urge others to get involved,’ Ms Scott said.
