Honesty best policy at Red Bay Primary

Three Red Bay Primary School students – Breanna Bodden, Justin Nalty and Crystal Edwards – were congratulated during a recent school assembly after handing in a wallet containing $400, which they found on their school bus.

The story began when Justin, a Year 4 student, found the wallet and with the help of Year 4 student Crystal and Year 6 student Breanna, they began the search to discover its rightful owner.

Their search was unsuccessful and the students ended up handing in the wallet to the school’s office. On investigation, the school’s principal, Mrs. Angela McLaughlin discovered that it belonged to Miss Charlene, the bus warden, who hadn’t realised that she had lost it. Miss Charlene was so grateful to the students that she bought them each a small token of appreciation.

Deputy Principal at Red Bay Primary Mrs. Allison Greaves-Wallace commended the trio: ‘We salute the three heroes and compliment your parents on teaching their children the value of honesty. Well done! You are leaders in upholding our school’s motto of Compassion, Excellence and Integrity and we are proud of you.’
