Please allow me space in your newspaper to write about some concerns of mine.
Dogs without leashes on unfenced properties are a very serious situation. Government needs to look into this situation immediately before it causes any more serious injury or someone’s death. If dog owners need leashes but cannot afford one, please help them.
Bus stop shelters for school children need to be addressed. Children are still walking great distances to the bus stop.
When they get there, I believe they should have some place to sit and shelter from the heat and possibly rain.
This also needs immediate attention. It seems they are forgotten about, or are they last on the list?
Some roads have holes about a foot deep and are only being patched. What has happened to the millions that were budgeted for them? The roads need to be redone.
We also need more lights in certain locations. The roads are uneven at the sides and this is also very dangerous.
There’s flooding in some areas and people who have to walk to school or work, etc., cannot pass dry-footed on these occasions. We need drains and more signs warning of cattle.
I also noticed that in the Government housing in West Bay, the residents and visitors are being smothered with dust and drivers are speeding constantly.
There are a lot of children there and there are only two stretches of road. Is it too much to place signs about children, put in speed bumps and asphalt the road?
There are supposed to be paid community workers in the districts, but they are not looking about all the elderly. Instead of them just sitting in their cars or driving around, there is so much more to be done.
All of the elderly should be looked after.
Social Services need to be more concerned about the Caymanian people. They need to look at the needs of the people and help them.
I would also like to know why people who are overseas at mental institutions for years now are not yet back home.
Do we not have the facilities and the staff? Can we afford it?
I believe it would be in the best interest to bring these people back home where they can see their families on regular basis.
There are so many things that Government can be doing and is not.
We need more Caymanian doctors, teachers, etc., but I do not feel that the opportunity is being offered to them and they are getting no encouragement.
Another concern I have is that of the party system in Government.
We need to get rid of it before we become like other countries.
I would like to remind Government that I would like to see alcohol and tobacco on the illegal list. What good are these substances to our people?
I would also like to mention that something needs to be done about the traffic situation at the Turtle Farm. A pedestrian crossing needs to be placed there. Some days tourists are all over the place.
Also in the mornings, the two lanes need to be used going into town and in the afternoon the two lanes coming down. The middle lane needs to be used to alleviate this stressful situation for drivers.
Importation of vehicles must also be acted upon.
Lastly, but no the least, our music and viewing entertainment should be censored.
