Walk raises $18,000

Participants in the recent Savannah Primary School Walk-A-Thon raised more than CI$18,000 to help replenish the school’s library.

Around $100,000 worth of school library books were damaged in Hurricane Ivan.

The walk started at the Westin Hotel for first through third grade students, and at the Seven Mile Shops for fourth through sixth grade students. The walk ended at the Public Beach.

X.107.1 FM, the Sunrise Rotary Club and the Commonwealth Youth Club all helped Savannah Primary School with the event and donations.

The two students who raised the most amount of money were awarded a new bicycle.
