Spanking column was refreshing

It was so refreshing to get off my British Airways flight from London, where I witnessed a young boy repeatedly cringing from his father each time he did the slightest thing wrong on this 12 hour flight, to read the column by Guy P. Harrison (Spanking children is wrong, Caymanian Compass, page 4, 24 August 2005).

I have long thought that if it were not so tragic, it would be amusing that so many adults assault children and then mutter about the violent youth of today.

In the UK, following in the footsteps of many European countries – I believe that any assault causing a bruise or even a reddening of the skin has been recently outlawed.

Perhaps the new government here could be persuaded to follow suit.
