Book showcases Cayman

A book offering an in-dept panorama of the three islands – Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman – was launched on Monday.

Destination Cayman, a 190-page, hard cover book with 650 original colour photographs, was presented to Leader of Government Business Kurt Tibbetts and Leader of the opposition McKeeva Bush by publisher and Editor-in-Chief Michael Phillips.

The cocktail party and luncheon at the Grand Old House on Monday was held in the presence of island dignitaries and leaders of the financial and business sector.

The book provides a comprehensive yet highly readable account of the country’s many facets.

Each of the five districts in Grand Cayman is highlighted in its own section, with contemporary photographs of their land and seascapes, notable buildings, monuments and cultural attractions.

Sections are also devoted to Cayman Brac and Little Cayman with an emphasis on their natural beauty and heritage.

Further chapters focus on Cayman’s flourishing and diverse financial sector, as well as its history, tourism, water sports, health care, education and cuisine.

With a retail price of CI$12.95 or US$16.20 the book includes a complimentary CD-Rom containing an electronic version of the publication.

The new edition is on sale at local bookshops, supermarkets, souvenir outlets and leading tourist centres.

Hobbies and Books are the Cayman Islands distributors. International distribution will begin in January 2006.
