Cayman Travel Services celebrated its 25th anniversary by holding a customer appreciation day Thursday, 8 December.
The business, which opened its doors 1 December 1980, has always emphasised good customer relations, explained Mindy Scott-Hennings, general manager of the company.
‘In this business today, there are so many agencies in Cayman; our number one priority is our service to our customers. I think that is why they keep coming back,’ she said.
Mrs. Scott-Hennings acknowledged that many people now use the internet to book their travel, but added that Cayman Travel offers several advantages over online purchases.
‘Anyone can go online today and purchase a ticket. But we offer services that you can’t get online, such as firsthand knowledge of hotels and car packages that come with discounted airfares, and special Caribbean rates that are not available online.
‘We specialise in hotels, cars, cruises and tours, and we can book rail service,’ she said.
Mrs. Scott-Hennings has been at Cayman Travel for 10 years, moving up from travel consultant to front office manager to general manager, so she knows what it takes to make the business successful.
‘The personal contact you have with the agent who knows you and your personal preferences – that makes the difference,’ she said.
As part of the celebration, Cayman Travel held a drawing for one Cayman Airways ticket and one Air Jamaica ticket. In addition, anyone who bought a ticket Thursday entered a draw where the winner would get the cash back for their purchase.
Mrs. Scott-Hennings has plans in the works, but she is going to keep the public guessing about them for a little while longer.
‘We have exciting things in store for the future,’ she said.
