More than 100 children competed in the recent Milo Kids Tryathlon held on Seven Mile Beach. Organisers say this year’s edition of the annual race was one of the best ever.
‘The venue was fabulous,’ said Judy Ryan, an event organiser. ‘Having the transition back from West Bay Road meant that the only time we were affected by the traffic was when the kids came from the swim. And the police were there to facilitate the crossing.’
The distances were 100m swim, 3 km bike, 500 m run for the 7 to 10 year olds. The 11 to 14 year olds did double the distances.
The grand prize winner for the 7 to 10 year olds (a new bike) was Rochelle Hews. The grand prize winner of the iPod Shuffle for the older kids was Brianna Hydes.
The rest of the spot prizes were donated by Uncle Bill’s and Sports’ Supply.
‘All in all, a fabulous day with great weather and loads of satisfied kids,’ added Ryan. ‘Everyone went home a winner, with a certificate, finisher’s medal, new t-shirt, a full belly and loads of good memories.’
