An increased police presence for the districts of North Side and East End is on the way.
The RCIP is looking at staffing East End and North Side with a 24-hour police service, Deputy Commissioner Rudi Dixon told the Caymanian Compass on Monday.
At the moment, the police are on the way to recruiting staff to bring up the complement of staff to the necessary level to provide that service, said Mr. Dixon.
Presently, the 24-hour service is provided from the Bodden Town police station, he explained.
There would be inspector-level coverage at the two stations – which had now been repaired after Hurricane Ivan – and there would be eight officers for each station, said Mr. Dixon.
It was hoped the measure would be in place early next year, he said.
The level of Bodden Town staffing would remain as now but they would not be responsible for East End and North Side, said Mr. Dixon.
