Physician joins WB clinic

Dr. Christelle Swanepoel has joined the West Bay Medical Centre.

Growing demand at the centre prompted the Chrissie Tomlinson Memorial Hospital to recruit Dr. Swanepoel to practice there full time, said a press release from the hospital.

After graduating from the University of Pretoria, South Africa in 2002, Dr. Swanepoel worked in a large regional hospital providing general practice clinics and emergency care to residents of an underprivileged community.

Dr. Swanepoel relocated to Grand Cayman in December 2005 with her husband.

‘Since the West Bay Medical Centre opened in April 2005, all of our family physicians at the hospital have been assisting with the clinics. However, there is now sufficient demand to warrant a full-time doctor, and I am very pleased that Dr. Swanepoel has agreed to join our team,’ said CTMH owner, Dr. Steve Tomlinson.

According to the CTMH, the medical centre, which is based at Centennial Towers will be open from 9am to 4pm. However, Dr. Swanepoel will be reviewing with patients the most convenient clinic times to help ensure that the medical centre is as accessible as possible.

‘I am looking forward to working in West Bay. My mission is to serve the community of West Bay and Seven Mile Beach by providing quality medical care in a family oriented practice’ said Dr. Swanepoel. She also expressed that she has a particular interest in child health and emergency medical care.

The public can make an appointment with Dr. Swanepoel by calling Nurse Judith at 329-0997 or 943-6066.
