Going pottery

Work of Art and All Fired Up offer a range of children and adult classes to test creative skills.

Adult classes include creating a wine and cheese platter, a photo mosaic, scrap book classes to jewellery making basics. A range of children’s classes, ages seven to 12 years, are also available throughout the year.

A bright, spacious and colourful studio is also open to those wishing to work on their own.

The studio supplies all art work materials, including a wide range of pre-fired pottery, from vases, platters, plates and pots, which participants are then free to paint however they wish to create their special one-of-a-kind keepsake.

Mosaic’s can also be created, from wall hangings, photo frames to mirrors, making ideal gifts.

Ticha Nelson-Hurtt, jewellery making teacher at Work of Art, said: ‘The one time classes are a great opportunity to get creative and we offer a wide range to appeal to everyone.

‘They classes have been attracting a wide range of ages and they have become a real social occasion.’

Classes range from $30 to $40 and take place on various evenings throughout the week.

Studio hours are Monday to Saturday 10am to 6pm and Tuesday and Thursdays open till 8pm. Studio time cost $5 per hour including all materials. Pottery pieces range from $2 to $50 per piece.

Pottery takes approximately two weeks to be ready once painted. Work of Art/All Fired Up also offer a selection of scrapbook classes.
