Residents of Little Cayman got a taste of how sugar impacts health during a recent seminar.
Mrs. Zorida Powell, Assistant Health Ministries Director with Creek Seventh-day Adventist Church in Cayman Brac, presented a health seminar last week titled The Sugar Story: Sweet or Sour? Held at the Hungry Iguana Restaurant, the two-hour programme attracted more than 20 people.
Mrs. Powell focused on the disadvantages of using too much sugar in the diet. In addition, she conducted a cooking class coupled with the distribution of recipes. Each attendee also received a three-page handout on sugar.
At the conclusion of the seminar, presenters were treated to dinner by Mr. Anu Christopher, Chef for the Hungry Iguana.
The programme will be held monthly, with the next seminar set for 4 April. Mrs. Powell will highlight the importance of a healthy breakfast.
Mrs. Powell was accompanied to Little Cayman by her husband, Pastor Al Powell, the District Pastor for Berea and Creek Seventh-day Adventist Churches on the Brac, and Mrs. Marva King Crew, an Assistant Health Ministries Director for the Creek Seventh-day Adventist Church.
