Cayman Islands National Age-Group Championships

Last Friday and Saturday saw the staging of the 2006 CUC National Championships by the Cayman Islands Athletic Association.

At the end of one of the two-day championships, athletes representing the George Town District triumphed over their rivals from the other Districts.

George Town’s total of 278 points bettered their nearest rivals, Bodden Town (165) by over 100 points, with West Bay third with 71 points followed by Cayman Brac/Little Cayman with 48 points and East End/North Side with 17 points.

At the end of the Meet medals were presented to the athletes by Mr. Richard Hew, president of the meet’s sponsors. Hew pledged CUC’s continued support to the association with the continued sponsorship of the National Championships.

Cayman Islands Athletic Association President H. Delroy Murray thanked CUC for their support and expressed appreciation for the support given by the volunteers in staging what was a fairly successful meet.
