The Cayman Islands Post Office has announced that Marsha Dixon has taken over the helm in Bodden Town.
‘Marsha’s enthusiasm and her positive energy are assets in our industry. She is very customer-conscious,’ said Postmaster General Sheena Glasgow
Ms Dixon loves her job because she knows that the Post Office reaches more people in the Cayman Islands in more ways every day than any other company. She also has a naturally curious nature.
‘When I first started I wondered, ‘Where is the mail going? Where is that stamp from? What is that culture like?’ I was so curious that I looked up countries on the Internet or in a book,’ Ms Dixon said.
Ms Dixon began working at the Post Office eight years ago to earn some extra money for the Christmas season, and the job eventually led to a full-time position as a secondary sorter. From there, her steady ascent has led to the position she has today. She has literally done some of everything – parcels, Registered Mail, Express Mail, dispatching the mail, and overseeing customer service. Because of her experience and her reliability she was utilised as a floater – someone who could fill in wherever she was needed. This put her in a unique position: she has worked in North Side, West Bay, Seven Mile Beach, Savannah, Airport, East End and General Post offices.
Marsha Dixon said she was doubly honoured by the promotion. ‘I realise I have big shoes to fill as I am taking over from a local postal legend, Mrs. Petra Kelly. And the fact that I have been promoted to District Manager of Bodden Town Post Office is particularly thrilling as this is the district where I grew up.’
