In Sunday night’s action at the Digicel Court; the Esso Blazers defeated the Blue Devils 86-54. With Gregory ‘the Assassin’ Miller back from school, the Blazers were in top form and led the entire game. Kevin Maxwell scored 14 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for the blazers while teammate Jermaine Myles added 19 points and 6 rebounds. For the Blue Devils, Chris Lebeau had 17 points and 8 rebounds while teammate Tim Elder added 9 points and 9 rebounds.
In game two, the Warriors took on the 1st place Wendy’s Tarheels in an exciting matchup. The Warriors came out hot and were on fire for the entire 1st half! Blowing out the Heels by 25 points going into halftime; it clearly looked as though the game was over. But in the 3rd quarter the Tarheels came out with fire in their eyes and with tremendous defensive pressure managed to relinquish the Warrior lead to only 8 points going into the second quarter; But the Warriors managed to emerge victorious with some clutch baskets from Marco De La Cruz down the stretch and by converting their free-throws. The final score was 88 – 82;
For the Warriors; Collin Anglin registered his first double double of the season with 23 points, 10 assists and 3 steals while Marco De La Cruz added 21 points and 6 rebounds; For the Tarheels, Dwight O’Garro had 15 points and 13 rebounds while Andrew Wisdom added 12 points and 8 rebounds; Daniel Augustineadded 17 points for the Heels.
